"Coriolis’ egalitarian, female-forward sensibility is no coincidence, but the fruit of collaborative female leadership, and that is radical in the often male-led, hierarchical ballet world. If you love ballet, go to Coriolis for the gorgeous dancing, stay to support independent women artists."

Dance Festival

January 21st
Yaw Theater
Pre-Show 7:00p, Show 7:30

Coriolis Dance and Yaw Theater are thrilled to be co-producing a new festival, Wielding Forms Dance Festival. Bringing a fresh take on contemporary dance festivals, Coriolis Dance and Yaw Theater are interested in finding ways chance can play a role in four new works. Within the realm of chance, each choreographer is asked to reimagine how the audience can interact and impact their piece. We will be selecting three choreographers from the proposals submitted to be presented alongside a new Coriolis Dance work.

In its first iteration, the Wielding Forms Dance Festival will include one solo, one duet, one trio, and a quartet. The pre-show will consist of the audience manipulating and interacting with chosen elements of each piece which then are used during the show.

Each Choreographer will be given 20 hours of rehearsal time at one of the three Yaw spaces, and be paid $25/hr..
Performers will be auditioned later in the fall, each paid $17/hr for rehearsal time with an additional $150 performance stipend.
Choreographers will be given a $100 stipend per cast member for costumes

Coriolis Dance is supported in part by  ArtsWA, and 4Culture
